WHAT ARE YOUR NEEDS?

The word "need" can be used as a verb and as a noun. If someone asks you what your needs are, that person is asking you to talk about the things that are really important in your life.

Here are some examples for how this word is used as a noun:

  • Tammy's needs aren't being met.
  • Her income doesn't meet her needs.
  • If your income doesn't satisfy your needs, it might be time to look for a new job.

 

In emergency situations, you needs are urgent (really important!):

  • Survivors of a hurricane will have an urgent need for a place to live.
  • A person who gets into a serious automobile accident might have an urgent need for medical care.
  • A person who is laid off from a job will have an urgent need for work.

 

Here are some examples for how "need" is used as a verb.

  • Joseph needs to find a new apartment.
  • He needs more space for a growing family.
  • He doesn't want to spend a lot of money every month, but he might need to.
  • Joseph needs some time to look around his neighborhood for a new place to live.
